ROADRUNNER

Greater Roadrunner (Cuckoo family) (Seen in The Woodlands, TX)

Greater Roadrunner - The personable roadrunner rarely flies (only under duress), but sprint up to 15 miles an hour! This bird eats almost anything that moves (mice, spiders, lizards, small birds), and is especially noted for eating snakes (even the venomous ones).

Actually a member of the cuckoo family, the Greater Roadrunner is shown under "ground birds" -- because it has a similarity to those birds. (The "lesser" roadrunner is found in Mexico and South America.)
